About HBM

HBM’s beginnings date back to 1950 when the engineer Karl Hottinger opened a small workshop under the name of Hottinger Messtechnik. The company, initially employing ten staff, is now a world leader in measurement applications for many sectors and industries. HBM has 29 subsidiaries and is represented in more than 60 countries around the world. In addition to headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany, manufacturing, and engineering facilities are located in Marlboro and Champaign (USA), Suzhou (China) and Porto (Portugal). Strain gauges

HBM’s portfolio contains a series of specialized measuring devices divided into three groups: sensors, instruments, and software. Sensors is a category that includes a range of strain gauges, strain transducers and optical strain sensors. You will find here products such as:

– Strain gauges for strain analysis ( PMS40, LS31, LI66, V, C, DY, KY, RDS, VY series), and strain gauges for manufacturers of transducers

– – Transducers and strain sensors (SLB700A/06VA, DD1, SLB700A, PACEline CST/300)

– FS optical strain sensors (FS62, FS63, FS65, and FS64) and OP optical strain sensors ( OL, OR, OTC, OR-w)

– Optical interrogators ( BraggMETER FS22 and FS42) for data acquisition from optical strain gauges

If none of the strain gauges meets the requirements set by the client, HBM through a dedicated project team will develop a custom strain gauge tailored to specific needs.

Load cells

The rest of the group consists of load cells among which we have:

– Single point load cells ( PW4M, PW16A, PW15AH, PW2D, PW6C, PWSE and PW29)

– Digital load cells (C16i, FIT/1, FIT/5, PW15AHi, FIT7A, and FIT5A) and beam load cells (Z6, Z7A, BLC, ELC, HLC)

– Canister load cells (C16A, C16i, C2 and C2A) and ring torsion load cells (RTN)

– Tension/compression load cells (C2, RSCC (S-Type), Z16A and U2A)

As for the load cells, we can also distinguish weigh modules designed for weighing and level measuring implemented by modules C16/M, C2A/M, HLC/M, RTN/M, Z6/M, Z6/AM. The range of transducers is complemented by accessories and equipment such as measuring amplifiers (VKIA405, RM4220) and weighing terminals (WE2111, WE2108, WE2107, DIS2116).

Torque & Force

Another product in which HBM has been setting the standard of design and manufacture for over 50 years is torque transducer. Product catalog includes:

– Digital torque sensors (T12, T40B, T40, FM, T40HS, T40MAR) and analog torque sensors (T10F, T10FH)

– Low capacity torque transducer (T20WN, T22, T4A, T5)

– Calibration grade reaction torque (TB1A TB2, TN, TTS) and SK slip ring assemblies (SK5, SK6, SK12)

Interfaces such as TIM-EC TIM40 and TIM-PN are used to integrate force transducers with networks such as EtherCat or Profibus. Sensors and transducers may be divided into two categories, the first is based on strain gauge (for example C10, U10, C9C, S9M, U93, U15, KMR, KD, KDB STZ and Z30A), and the second is based on piezoelectric measuring (PACEline CFT, CFW, CHW, CLP and measuring chain CMC). HBM also offers OEM sensors designed for specific customer requirements, robust and maintenance-free inductive sensors (W1ELA/0, WA L, WA T, WI) and pressure sensors (such as P3, P3MBP, P8AP).

Measuring instruments

Measuring instruments is another group of products presented by HBM. These are data acquisition systems (including QuantumX, Somat, PMX, MGCplus, DMP41, Genesis High Speed), among which we can distinguish data recorders (including QuantumX CX22B-W, GEN3i, SomatXR), mentioned earlier weighing electronics, measuring amplifiers and optical interrogators of FBG sensors, calibrators (including DMP41, ML38B, BN100A, K3607), signal conditioners (including MC2A/MC3, MVD2510, P85A, SD01A), software (including catman, PanelX, Perception, FASTpress Suite) and many other products.
